VIDEO: Resurrectionists – “Blue Henry” (Premiere)

Today, we are thrilled to premiere Resurrectionists’ new video for “Blue Henry.” The clip marks a  conclusion to the visuals from their album “Now That We Are All Ghosts.” The song, with its lingering melodies and chilling guitar notes, leaves you hanging on every note. The lyrics delve into themes of ghosts and skeletons, added a creepy allure that is ultimately the product of good songwriting. The black and white video from TW Hansen intensifies the song’s mystic ambiance, enveloping viewers in an eerie clip set in downtown Milwaukee. Check out the video here:

VIDEO: HUMID – “Enamor” (Premiere)

We are delighted to premiere shoegaze band HUMID’s new video for “Enamor” from recent album “One Dimensional Hell.” Shot by Daniel MacKay, the visuals find Matt Tomashek playing his guitar isolated while on the floor, as well as footage from the band’s recent show at Quarters Rock N’ Roll Palace. There are some dizzying shots under the trees as well, and it all makes for a dreamy excursion. Check it out!

‘Last Of The Light,’ Adam Giles Levy’s critically acclaimed 2018 release, has been given a magnificent fresh start, and Adam has shared the official lyric video for the enchanting gem today!

Adam has recently joined UK label Hillside Global and has been given access to some of the best studios in the country, including Hybrid Sound Studio and The Priory.

Thomas Atlas remixed the new version while mastering engineer Greg Chandler added the golden sheen.

The result is spectacular. It grips like bait on the end of a fisherman’s rod with its omnipotent audio, and the visuals, including the thought-provoking wordplay, are now available!

VIDEO: Tron Jovi – “Maximum Headroom Dub” (Premiere)

The production half of Guerrilla Ghost, Tron Jovi, has a new instrumental EP, “Bass + Frequency Studies in Dub, Chapter One” coming out this Friday, and the first video from the project gives us a good idea what’s in store. “Maximum Headroom Dub” gives us a thick bass with some tubular synths over the top. The video, based on the 1987 hijacking of a Chicago TV signal, is pure nightmare fuel in the best sense, taking the original footage and distorting it even more than the existing clips of the original incident online. Make sure to check out the full EP when it becomes available as a limited edition lathe cut through Triple Eye Industries this Friday, and get the premiere of the video here below:

AUDIO: Guerrilla Ghost – “The Immigrant Song” (Premiere)

We’re getting closer and closer to the release of Guerrilla Ghost’s upcoming album, “We Get What We Deserve”, and today we have the exclusive premiere of their newest single from the project, “The Immigrant Song”. This is the second drop from the upcoming project, and features a minimalist backdrop to further amplify the verses from Bad Graphics Ghost, who details the struggle of black life in America, which eventually give way to raw emotion. He had the following to say about the song:

“This song is one of my personal favorites on the record and possibly one of the better songs we’ve written and recorded. Our dear friend and frequent collaborator Commakazee blessed us with her signature brand of harmony and melody to help drive the urgency of the song’s message home. I wrote this after watching a video of a young girl crying for her father after he was wrongfully arrested and sent to ICE concentration camps along the southern border. Being a father of two daughters myself, this moved me to the deepest pits of my heart and soul. I was moved to say something and to speak it loudly. I believe that no one should have to suffer for the racist and sexist stigmas enforced upon their people and culture by a fascist capitalist empire that seemingly refuses to show sympathy or practice tolerance of other beings. For a country that claims to be founded as a safe haven for refugees and immigrants fleeing their homelands from political and religious persecution, it’s devastating to witness us become a nation thriving with racial injustices and violence in the name of christianity. Everyone deserves the right to equal treatment and the promise of a better future for themselves and their family. That being said, it was only fitting to debut this song during the weekend while America celebrates it’s “independence”. I hope this song strikes a nerve in all who listen, specifically motivating them towards positive change. If god does exist, we are all made in her image. If god does exist, may she show mercy on the world. No child left behind.”

Given the state of the world, artists like Guerrilla Ghost are ever more important, using music to draw attention to the political climate. We’ll get more of that on “We Get What We Deserve”, which is due out at the end of the month via Triple Eye Industries. Check out the new single below:

AUDIO: Hot Science – “Edible Tuxedo” (Premiere)

Triple Eye Industries continues to gear up for the release of their upcoming modular compilation, “Wired Exploration, Vol. 1” at the end of this month, and today we have the premiere of a new track from one of Milwaukee’s more prominent electronic artists. Hot Science’s “Edible Tuxedo” is the latest track from the compilation to see the light of day, and features spastic, glitchy melodies with a thumping, persistent beat behind them. There’s a great blend of darker, pseudo-bass notes with bright melodies, contrasting one another perfectly. “Wired Exploration Vol. 1” is available on May 29th, with pre-orders available here. Check out the premiere of “Edible Tuxedo” below:

VIDEO: Tr3y – “Essential AF” (Premiere)

It takes a true wordsmith to take the worldwide quarantine and make it appealing. Enter Tr3y, who makes the most of the situation with his new single and video, “Essential AF”. Produced by Young Tarzan & Tr3y, the track talks about reaching out to that special someone while nothing else is going on. The video from Primetime Visuals is also on point, and the whole package works together to keep you entertained while you’re stuck at home. We’ve already gotten a couple of singles from Tr3y so far this year, but expect him to come back with more in the near future as well. Check out the clip for “Essential AF” below:

AUDIO: Brandon Logic – “Parapraxis” (Premiere)

We’re getting closer and closer to the release of Triple Eye Industries’ “Wired Explorations Vol. 1” compilation, and today we have the premiere of the second track released from the tape, “Parapraxis” by Brandon Logic. The track is the opening song on the compilation, which features tracks created with modular synthesizers from producers in and around the Milwaukee area. The track feels like an introduction to modular synth music as well, with a slow, dark build that eventually explodes into a full blown soundscape about a minute in. “Wired Explorations Vol. 1” will be available on vinyl on May 29th, and preorders are already available here. Check out “Parapraxis” below:

AUDIO: Nicholas Elert – “Through Supersonic Years” (Premiere)

Triple Eye Industries is cooking up something special, with an upcoming limited-run compilation vinyl called “Wired Explorations, Vol. 1”, featuring just a sampling of Milwaukee’s diverse electronic music scene. The first sampling of the project is “Through Supersonic Years” by Nicholas Elert, and features modular synths and a dark, progressive soundscape. The track feels like a continual build, and almost feels like the soundtrack to a thriller movie at times. “Wired Explorations, Vol. 1” comes out on May 29th, but you can preorder the record or digital release via Bandcamp, and check out “Through Supersonic Years” below:

AUDIO: Tr3y – “OMW” (Premiere)

As R&B continues to surge locally, a slew of names are putting out great music. Amongst those is Tr3y, who has a brand new track, “OMW” out today. As you might expect, the track is about a late night rendezvous, but the delivery is picture perfect. The local crooner has a vocal tone that matches the production well, which is always critical. The track is the lead single from Tr3y’s upcoming album, “All The World’s A Stage”, which is set to drop later this year, likely in the fall. We’ll likely continue to get new singles in the interim, but you can check out “OMW” below:

AUDIO: Klutch – “Everything Will Be Alright” (Premiere)

As much as we don’t really want to talk about it, the COVID-19 crisis is affecting the whole world right now. That being said, there’s a lot of other causes for panic that still affect daily life as well, and Klutch is here to remind us that tough times will settle on his new single, “Everything Will Be Alright”. The track is pure pop, with a personal interjection about his mother’s own struggle with Cancer within the verses as well. However, the timing doesn’t feel more appropriate than now, when the world is in the middle of a crisis, than to remind the world that things will get better. Check out the premiere of “Everything Will Be Alright” below:

VIDEO: Tacoma Washington Weekday Club – “Everyone” (Premiere)

The world can feel pretty chaotic lately, and Tacoma Washington Weekday Club have a lot of pent up aggression to let out on their new single and video, “Everyone”. The song is fast paced and full of angst, leaning into a more punk side of their generally emo sound, the clip is just as frantic. Obviously, there’s a very political tone that comes across in both the song and video, naming Donald Trump and Joe Biden directly, but from a strictly musical standpoint, this is another solid track from the band, who continually step up their game with each release. Check out the premiere of the Jacob Durbin-directed clip below:

VIDEO: Reins Daily – “Bury Me Dear” (Premiere)

Singer/songwriter Sean Raasch, better known as Reins Daily, has been setting out on his own after the dissolve of Twin Brother. With an album on the way, we’ve been getting glimpses of his new project, including a new video today, “Bury Me Dear”. The track is a former Twin Brother song, complete with piano and trumpet from former Twin Brother bandmates Nick Berg and Andrew Eshbaugh, respectively. It’s a somber song, and the video delivers on that tone, with a lonesome DIY feel to it. It’s also a very intimate piece, from the tone of the recording to the video itself. You can look forward to Reins Daily’s album release on April 18th at Linneman’s, and get your first look and listen to “Bury Me Dear” below:

Audio: Prince & Goddess Returns Stronger Than Ever With New EP Kindness And Cruelty (Premiere)

Colorado based artist and producer Prince & Goddess premieres his latest EP, a collection of 11 beautifully crafted songs entitled Kindness And Cruelty, today on Breaking And Entering.

He made a solid reputation for himself by releasing “Split Personality” and “Friends” last year, both songs amassing countless plays on most major digital platforms.

There is an extraordinary story behind his name, as Prince & Goddess refers to Jack Saite, a royal descendant from Sais, an ancient city in Egypt during the last Egyptian Pharaoh and the Persian conquest in 525 BC. He fights to win the heart of the Goddess, but the laws forbid a Goddess to fall in love with any mortal, even with a Prince.

The beautifully curated soundscapes and production throughout the tracklist come together in pure harmony on Kindness And Cruelty, once again proving the immense artistry and talent of this young artist. Blending electro-pop with house in his own signature way, Prince & Goddess is slowly but surely building a solid momentum in the music scene, and Kindness And Cruelty will undoubtedly reinforce his status as one of the promising artists of the year.

AUDIO: Nile – “Treason Youth” (Premiere)

It’s safe to say that Nile is in the peak of his creativity right now. Shortly after releasing his successful “Hunter” project this past August, he’s back in November with another project, “Treason Youth”. The single, which is a pseudo-title track of sorts (“Trees N Youth”), came out last Friday with the announcement of the project to follow. This time around, we get even more from the Phat Nerdz emcee, including an expansion of his sound on tracks like most recent single “If You Down”, as well as collaborations with Myndd and Liza Jane. Nile knows how to capitalize on the momentum that he’s been building as of this year, and “Treason Youth” is definitely a way to cap off all of that progress. Check out the premiere of the new album here:

VIDEO: Twan Mack – “Main Concern” (Premiere)

This is one purely for the hip hop heads. Twan Mack is back with a new single and video, and “Main Concern” will get you nodding along with every bar. If you’ve been around Twan in a live setting, you likely know that he’s liable to beatbox when the moment presents itself, and that forms the beat for the new single. Mack also brings some street wisdom to the bars, with lines about apathy towards a flashy lifestyle, and only being concerned with himself and his money. The video from Abacus Haley is a play on the Brady Bunch intro, and the two get extra creative when they collaborate. Twan Mack has been making plenty of moves as late, and it doesn’t appear that he’s slowing down any time soon. Check out the premiere of the new single and video here:

VIDEO: Armstrong Ransome, AG Da Gift, LR & Kananga RMG – “Growing Pains” (Premiere)

The Land By The Lake series of Milwaukee compilations are really the gift that keeps on giving, and as Land By The Lake III is taking shape, we have the first video from the newest installment, with Armstrong Ransome, AG Da Gift, LR, and Kananga RMG joining forces for “Growing Pains”. The track is humbling, and as the title suggests, each Ransome, AG, and LR talking about the struggles that they’ve endured growing up over production from DJ Payday and 40 Mil. The hook from Kananga ties everything together, and the track really puts things in a new perspective. We know there’s always a ton of content that comes along with each installment of the Land By The Lake series, so watch for more soon, and check out the premiere of the Famous Motion & Photography-shot video below:

AUDIO: Twan Mack – “Have A Nice Day” (Premiere)

Veteran Milwaukee emcee Twan Mack lives and breathes hip hop, plain and simple. That comes to the forefront on his new single, the Roxanne Shante-inspired “Have A Nice Day”. The track is, in some ways, a reinterpretation of Shante’s classic from her 1989 “Bad Sister” album, but with a 2019 refresh. In fact, the track has earned praise from Shante herself, who heard a snippet of the track on Instagram. Before you think this is a purely nostalgia trip, though, you can hear that Mack has the spirit of hip hop’s foundations, but doesn’t sound dated with the release. We know there’s much more on the horizon for Twan Mack, but we’ll have to wait on that. For now, have a nice day with the premiere of “Have A Nice Day” below:

AUDIO: King Myles – “Hiii Times 3” (Premiere)

Every trilogy needs a strong final chapter, and the third EP in King Myles’ “Hiii Times” series is no exception. Within three tracks, you can see the evolution of the Milwaukee emcee since the initial “Hiii Times” tape was released in August of 2014. With lyrics about the work that he’s been putting in, coupled with some personal motivations to take his career to the next level, Myles is untouchable when he gets in his pocket on this release. The heart of the tape is track two, “Vapors”, which seems to encapsulate who King Myles is as an artist today, and how he got there. From start to finish “Hiii Times 3” is another in a long list of quality releases from King Myles, and you can get your first listen by checking out the premiere of the EP here:

VIDEO: King Bando – “Got Addies”

Since his “Off Da Addie” project dropped earlier this year, we’ve sensed a theme from Milwaukee artist King Bando. That continues today, with the premiere of a brand new video for his “Got Addies” freestyle. The track didn’t make the album, but feels very much in tune with the project both from a content standpoint as well as its sound. The video, courtesy of Rich Nerds Productions, is extra clean as well. We know that King Bando has more on the way, but in the meantime, check out the premiere of “Got Addies” below:

AUDIO: Twan Mack & Solana – “Sweat” (Premiere)

When he’s not hosting Big Beat MKE, Twan Mack gets busy on the microphone, with a consistent string of singles and releases under his belt so far. His latest, a collaboration with Solana entitled “Sweat” shows off a new dimension of his game. The track, produced by Twan Mack, Solana and Ben Block, has a world music-inspired flow to it, and Solana, originally from Uruguay, shines on the hook. Simply, the track feels like summer, with a carefree, party-ready sound to it. The combination of Solana’s melodies and Twan’s gifted delivery is an effective one, as this record should be played on rooftops, patios, and wherever the summer party is at this year. Get your first listen to “Sweat” below:

AUDIO: Stomata Featuring Genesis Renji – “A Blood Moon Over Louisiana” (Premiere)

While saxophonist / VoodooHoney Records head extraordinaire Jay Anderson may have relocated to New Orleans, Milwaukee is still represented in his work. That includes a new track, “Blood Moon Over Louisiana” featuring Genesis Renji, which we have the pleasure of premiering today. While yes, featuring an eloquent saxophone line from Anderson himself, the track also sets a smooth groove, with a bass line that makes you feel like you’re in transit while listening to it. Genesis comes in at just the right moment, with a frantic flow that gives another dimension to the song before the bass and drums go to work. The verse centers around the reality of New Orleans; while many people get excited over the historic buildings and attractions, a gruesome history of slavery is part of the city’s truth. You can check out Stomata tonight with B~Free at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, and get your first listen to “Blood Moon Over Louisiana” below:

AUDIO: King Bando – “Smile More” (Premiere)

It’s been a few months since King Bando has put out some new music, but that’s about to change in a major way, leading off with our premiere of his new EP, “Smile More”. In collaboration with producer Deltah Beats, this project is a little more personal than what we’ve gotten from Bando in the past. The street swagger that helped him establish his name is still there, but cuts like the title track and follow up “What About Me” lean towards learning more about the man behind the microphone than the persona on the track. “What About Me” is the first release that we’re getting from Bando, and we already know of another coming soon, but you’ll have to wait just a little bit on that. Check out the premiere “Smile More” below:
