AUDIO: Stomata Featuring Genesis Renji – “A Blood Moon Over Louisiana” (Premiere)

While saxophonist / VoodooHoney Records head extraordinaire Jay Anderson may have relocated to New Orleans, Milwaukee is still represented in his work. That includes a new track, “Blood Moon Over Louisiana” featuring Genesis Renji, which we have the pleasure of premiering today. While yes, featuring an eloquent saxophone line from Anderson himself, the track also sets a smooth groove, with a bass line that makes you feel like you’re in transit while listening to it. Genesis comes in at just the right moment, with a frantic flow that gives another dimension to the song before the bass and drums go to work. The verse centers around the reality of New Orleans; while many people get excited over the historic buildings and attractions, a gruesome history of slavery is part of the city’s truth. You can check out Stomata tonight with B~Free at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, and get your first listen to “Blood Moon Over Louisiana” below:
