VIDEO: Kill.Dawn & Polo Perks – “Again and Again”

Run Along Forever Crew hit the road at high speed for their new video, “Again and Again,” by Kill.Dawn and Polo Perks. The song is a refreshing blend of flexes and musical innovation, capturing the essence of living life on the edge in a radiant manner. The video has the guys on a deserted road, however, still posted up at a Prada store. Polo Perks brings a more traditional flow to the track, and he plays well off of Kill.Dawn’s autotuned style. Check out the new video below:

AUDIO: Rydawg Beatz – “Evangelion”

Producer Rydawg Beatz has a new two-pack out, and he links up with Lil Jul and Kill.Dawn for “Evangelion.” The pair of songs each feature a different Run Along Forever crew member, leading with Kill.Dawn on the title track. A dark beat gets the autotune treatment, with the rapper talking about making money and living a wild life. Jul follows up on “Insomnia,” who follows suit in a more subdued manner on the mix of the track. The beats are at the heart of the project, however, and while Run Along Forever is currently doing whatever they please, “Evangelion” is another reminder that everyone in the crew has something to offer as a creative. Check out “Evangelion” below:

VIDEO: Kill.Dawn & Subsad – “Reporting Live”

Kill.Dawn and Subsad are two of the more prolific members of Run Along Forever at this point, and the duo dropped a new single and video on Friday, with the bass-heavy “Reporting Live.” In the course of two minutes, both artists get plenty of big talk in, both flexing about their life and keeping receipts on people that didn’t want to say they knew them in the past. The video falls in line with the signature aesthetic of RAF at this point, with lo-tech visuals of the guys in the Third Ward and Downtown and quick cuts to make things look chaotic. Both Kill.Dawn and Subsad have it figured out, and you can see for yourself with “Reporting Live” below:

VIDEO: Kill.Dawn Featuring Caspr – “Number”

Kill.Dawn is back with a new video, and the Run Along Forever team is on the move to link up with Caspr in the clip for “Number.” The track is about getting a girl’s number, with both artists bringing their a-game to the verses. It all has the signature RAF sound, with a hazy beat and autotuned vocals driving the track. Caspr works well with Kill.Dawn’s flow, with both artists complimenting each other’s style on the microphone. The video is minimalistic, consisting of home movie footage with the lyrics being animated over the top of it all. Kill.Dawn, Caspr, and Run Along Forever have all leaned into an internet-heavy aesthetic, and it works on “Number.” Check it out here:

AUDIO: Kill.Dawn & Keylime – “Charge”

Kill.Dawn and producer Keylime have a new single out, and they’re making you move on “Charge.” The song is a departure from the usual style of the Run Along Forever rapper, who leans more into the hyperpop sound this time around with a dance track, which lyrically deals with going through a tough time in a relationship. On the b-side, the two tap into a similar energy for the remix to “Blk.Dress” featuring Between as well. The b-side goes even more over the top, with some big bass and house drums. Keylime dominates this release, and you can check out “Charge” below:

Big Beat MKE 2023 Night Five Recap

On a night pulsating with energy and music, the quarterfinals of the Big Beat MKE beat battle tournament kicked off at the Jackalope Lounj in the Historic Third Ward. A sizable crowd flooded the room and balcony, all ready for a show. The room was electric, and the stage set for an unforgettable showdown.

The first battle of the night featured a showdown between two first-year Big Beat MKE competitors: Kaskit and DuffThePro. The blend of contrasting sound palette and set the tone for the rest of the night. Kaskit, with his vibrant style, incorporated wild electronic sounds into his mix, giving the beats a different type of knock with some clean synths.  In response, DuffThePro had some melodic sequences that added a rich layer to his beats, as well as some knock in the speakers when called for. It was evenly matched, and an overtime round was necessary to break the tie. Ultimately, Kaskit emerged victorious and moved on to the next round, but both competitors shined.

The second confrontation promised a titanic clash between Orion and Domes1. A battle for boom bap greatness, it certainly didn’t disappoint. Orion had some classic elements to his rounds, but it was Domes1 who stole the show with his unique style. Weaving funky glitches into his beats, providing enough knock to shake the room and bringing some unique funk all worked in his favor in what was possibly the hardest battle of the tournament so far. The overtime round heightened the excitement and was a real treat for the fans. After a fierce battle, Domes1 emerged triumphant, securing his place in the next round of the tournament.

Adding to the electrifying atmosphere, the Run Along Forever crew, a rising force in Milwaukee’s hip hop scene, performed live, with sets from Superstar Sel and Kill.Dawn. Superstar Sel got the crowd moving, opening up the stage with the full force of his team behind him. In an exciting twist, Kill.Dawn moved the performance upstairs to the balcony to rock with his team. Surrounded by his crew and overlooking the audience, he brought out some new music and got his squad moving.

The first night of the Big Beat MKE quarterfinals was nothing short of a spectacle. With fierce battles and stunning performances, the event has only gotten better with each passing night. It’s clear the tournament is just heating up, and we can’t wait to see what the next round will bring. Join us next week Thursday night, when Super Ego Beats faces off against Gucco, and Yoshii goes toe-to-toe with James Ashen. Camp Shuttlesworth will also be in the building, with performances from Phif & C’zo.

Merging hip hop and glitchy, experimental electronic pop, Kill.Dawn is doing something unique on their latest EP, “Type Beat.” Whether it be distorted bass or club-ready claps, everything is on point with this release, which lives comfortably in its own sonic space over the course of five tracks. From one cut to the next, the feel changes entirely here, but Kill.Dawn’s synthetic vocals act like a bonding unit to bring everything together. “Type Beat is the latest in an extensive list of drops from Kill.Dawn this year, but its certainly a strong way to cap off the year.
