AUDIO: Docx – “Docx”

Docx released a new self-titled album this week which they describe as their most personal work to date. Fresh off the wave from their collaboration-heavy previous album “THE GURLS” dropped earlier this summer, the experimental producer returns to making music entirely solo here, carrying visceral themes of sexual identity and kink (as Docx mentioned in a recent interview with BOPS & FLOPS). As such, these tracks are structurally abstract while conveying powerful sensations of intimate exchanges and innermost carnal desires. “Docx” is a liberatory exhibition of sonic erotica without apprehension.

Producer Docx released their third album at the top of the month. With ten tracks and a vast array of features, Docx continues to challenge conventional norms of pop sensibilities by means of structural, textural and thematic experimentation. While Docx has always embraced collaboration and stylistic defiance with their output, they never cease to push the envelope with each sonic exhibition; there’s plenty of fun and playful elements to the verses and hooks, while Docx’s production invokes atmospheres that are variably brooding, cathartic and caffeinated depending on their mood. Featured artists here are NEO 10Y, QuaDaDonn, Mariko Miziyaki, Big Dre, Matty Cakes, Luh Kunt, Big PHARMA, Nineishuman, Papi Sabor, Mattela, Inca Galore, Itgirl, Djor, Amina Banks, Dexonia and C4NDYCRUSH. Docx summons a stacked cast for “THE GURLS” – check it out!

AUDIO: Docx – “Cum Thru”

Experimental producer Docx once again pushes the envelope with the release of a new single, “Cum Thru.” The track successfully intertwines conventional elements with unconventional sonic intricacies. At the heart of the track is a steady, rhythmic beat, over which Docx artfully layers a panoply of plunky, spastic notes, akin to the haphazard yet captivating music of a child’s toy in motion. It chugs and clunks forward, yet creates an irresistible groove is born from this idiosyncratic chaos. While it embraces a more experimental edge than most the track serves as a testament to Docx’s unending creativity.

AUDIO: Docx & Papi Sabor – “Infinitighosts”

Experimental artist-producers Docx and Papi Sabor teamed up for a three-song EP. Showcasing production that combines ominous textures with danceable qualities, Docx and Papi Sabor conjure a dark party atmosphere here. Dexonia appears on the first track “OUT” with rap verses in Spanish, and then the following two tracks “pools” and “SUMMERtime LOVE” incorporate reggaeton-friendly rhythms into heated grooves. There’s mystery, wonder and power embedded in these tracks; Docx and Papi Sabor execute a mesmerizing trio with “INFINITGHOSTS.”

AUDIO: Docx – “Like That”

Experimental producer Docx dropped a two-song EP this week. This release finds them collaborating with a few folks for zestful, inventive hip hop cuts. The title track enlists QuaDaDonn and Mariko Miziyaki for fun, flirtatious flexes. The second track “RONDA ROUSEY” cranks up the 808s and sounds the alarm for Itgirl. Docx is consistently up to something innovative; we look forward to what they’ve got in store for the next few months.

AUDIO: Docx & BIG PHARMA – “AHHHHHHH!!!”

Artist-producers Docx and BIG PHARMA teamed up for a new EP. Get ready to embark on a surreal and mischievous excursion through sonic experimentation – these five tracks are each entirely in their own lane, yet they form an extraordinary collage of textures and ideas. The duo incorporates elements of industrial, hyperpop and danceable electronica, complete with contributions from fellow artists Eat Death and Yung Buttpiss. Docx and BIG PHARMA get dark and cerebral with “AHHHHHHH!!!”.

AUDIO: Docx – “Pick 2 Seats”

Docx told you to pick a seat before…now they’re telling you to pick TWO seats. The experimental producer remixes the original tune with some different notes while retaining the hyper, exciting energy of the beat. It doesn’t matter what you seats you pick as long as there’s two of them – Docx breathes new air into a previous hit.

AUDIO: Docx – “Everyday is Yours”

Producer Docx has kept it moving with new music this week, dropping a two-piece. “Today is Mine” is a bright, shining track that brings waves on waves of colorful electronica. “Everyday is Yours” kicks things off with some subtle rhythm before building into a similarly uplifting tune and getting a groove going. Docx has demonstrated that their production can take on many moods and demeanors; this release departs from the dark, abstract textures of recent album “It” in favor of a pairing that tells you “hey, you’ve got this!”. Don’t sleep on Docx!

AUDIO: Docx – “Aywa”

Fresh off their album “It” which dropped nearly a month ago, experimental producer Docx has kept it moving with a new single. This one starts with scattered metallic sounds before various obfuscated voices begin firing out against flashing waves of synthesizers and 808 drops. Clocking in at just over a minute and half, “Aywa” is a trippy cut that reinforces not only Docx’s careful precision as a producer but also their knack for powerful sound incorporations and manipulations.

VIDEO: Docx – “The Creature (Floor of the Earth)”

Experimental artist and producer Docx dropped their marvelous album “It” last week, and with it came a music video for the song “The Creature” featuring Floor of the Earth. It’s a surreal visual depicting the artists in a room while trippy effects occur in the background. Be warned that this video has rapidly flashing lights, specifically in the last minute or so. Things gets disorienting and abstract with Docx and Floor of the Earth’s collaboration “The Creature.”

AUDIO: Docx – “It”

Experimental artist Docx has their sophomore album out today. Three years in the making, this album is a cosmic journey of sound, style, color and texture. The interlude “Exist?” featuring Kuntpills sums it up pretty well – the creative process is a beautiful escapism limitless in scope where revelations can occur at any time – and Docx explores those untethered possibilities with so many incredible directions in production. It’s an album that will get you hyped up but also make you think pensively. Additional features here include BIG PHARMA, Floor of the Earth, Papi Sabor, lilbabysal, and Yumeaki. Worlds are built and walls demolished with Docx’s magnificent opus “It.”

The production is hyper and energetic with an ethereal quality that makes you feel like you’re going light speed from galaxy to galaxy. Get excited for Docx’s album coming out August 5th!

AUDIO: Docx – “Through The Embers”

Experimental act Docx has their fifth track of the year out, and gets dark on “Through The Embers.” More soundscape than single, the release has an atmospheric feel to it. The track lives up to its name, feeling like the aftermath of a raging fire, or the eerie calm nothingness that happens in the remnants of something explosive. Docx is making a name for themselves in the fringe of Milwaukee’s music scene, and there’s likely more where this comes from before summer ends. Listen to “Through The Embers” here:

AUDIO: Docx – “Better Days”

Experimental artist and producer Docx’s latest single is a burst of hyper electronica. It’s a track about feeling unstoppable and on top of the world, unfazed by foreseeable obstacles. Clocking in at a minute and eighteen seconds, “Better Days” is an intoxicating banger with the vitality to wake you the fuck up and get you going. Docx has been pushing the envelope with inventive, whimsical production that encompasses a vast range of textures, moods, and motions. We can’t wait to see what they do next.

VIDEO: Docx – “You Will Not Know”

Experimental pop artist Docx has visuals out to the song “You Will Not Know” from recent EP “Episode 11111111.” With effects by evilVenus, we observe a Hello Kitty-type character moving across the screen like in a video game while shadowy red-and-black figures haunt the background. The protagonist runs pasts increasingly dark messages of discouragement and nihilism, forth towards ostensible doom. Docx gets cryptic with “You Will Not Know.”

AUDIO: Docx – “Pick A Seat”

Experimental pop artist Docx is out with some new remixes of a 2020 track. The original version did not have vocals but this release changes that, featuring lightning-fast flow and playful repetitions in the Deathrow edit. Then there’s an interlude that invites you to take not one but *two* seats, and finally ZAYMINATI hops on one, bringing plenty of heat and swagger for anyone that wants smoke. The atmospheric and capricious production of the track fits the various interpretations well, giving plenty of room for experimentation and creativity. Docx goes in some fun directions with “Pick A Seat.”
