B&E WEekly Jams Presented by Bublr Bikes: 4/18 – 4/24/21

We’re moving quickly through spring and into a busy summer, and the Milwaukee music scene is ahead of things with this week’s B&E Weekly Jams presented by Bublr Bikes! This week, we have a plethora of new music, including tracks from Larry Bull, Tay Drummond, Dinner Set Gang, Trapper Schoepp and more. Don’t forget to follow Breaking And Entering on Spotify for more playlists, and check out this week’s playlist below:

AUDIO: Jae Ace – “Love On A Bag”

Love and money are fickle things. Jae Ace tries to connect the two with his latest single, “Love On A Bag.” The hook asks for someone to be loyal enough to be a co-earner, getting money together as a couple. The verses follow suit, albeit with Jae Ace focusing more on the love part, and with everything set to a piano-laden beat, it’s the perfect marriage of romance and commerce. The song concept is an interesting approach to the traditional love song, but a very real component of a happy relationship to some people. Listen to Jae Ace speak to his reality in “Love On A Bag” below:

B&E Weekly Jams Presented by Bublr Bikes: 11/11 – 11/17/18

After a week off, we’re back with another edition of the B&E Weekly Jams Presented by Bublr Bikes! The landscape of Milwaukee music is far different from what it looked like even at the beginning of 2018, and that’s a very good thing. This week, we have new music from IshDARR, a Clear Pioneer remix from Dashcam, plus music from CT, Guerrilla Ghost, Joe Quinto and more! Check out this week’s playlist below:

AUDIO: CT – “I Never Asked For This”

In 2017, Milwaukee emcee CT launched his way onto our radar with his impressive “Not Bad For A Blogger” project. Since then, we’ve gotten a mixture of singles and features to help get more acquainted with his sound and flow. That build brings us to the next big step for CT, with the release of his sophomore album, “I Never Asked For This”. With 12 tracks, including recent single split “Lord Willin’ / Ride”, we get a hungry flow from CT, with a little more intensity than we heard on the first project. A slew of features, including Blizz, Genesis Renji, Maal Himself, Yo Dot, Camb and more give the album extra depth, though CT can hold the spotlight on his own when he needs to. Check out “I Never Asked For This” below:

AUDIO: Pizzle – “Grand Design”

It’s finally here.

After three years of saying that it was “coming soon”, Pizzle finally released “Grand Design” today. This is, undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated releases in Milwaukee music for some time. Featuring production from Honorable C.N.O.T.E., Derelle Rideout, Cardo, DJ Pain 1, and many more, as well as features from Jae Ace and Klassik, this will be a memorable release for a lot of people. Let’s see where things go from here. Check out “Grand Design” (finally!) below:

AUDIO: Plaga – “BI-Chance” (Featuring Pizzle, Jae Ace, & D. Bridge) (Premiere)

Plaga hit me up tonight with a brand new track he produced, and it’s definitely some heat for a freezing winter day. All three emcees go in on the track, and there’s an ultra-smooth beat from a consistently strong producer. If you aren’t rapping along at some point, you’ll be singing the hook. This is definitely an all-star roster doing their thing, and I’d expect it to get plenty of spins. I’ve already played it a few times. Check out the track below:

Milwaukee Artist of the Week – 12/20/13 – Jae Ace

Are you a Milwaukee musician/band? You can submit your music to be the Milwaukee Artist of the Week by emailing links to info@BreakingAndEntering.net. We’ll check out every submission we get!

This week’s Milwaukee Artist of the Week is Jae Ace, a rapper that just added a major contribution to the quality of the local hip hop scene. Last week, he released “NOON”, a longtime project in the making that finally saw the light of day. Releases like this prove that taking the quality of quantity route has a tremendous impact. Jae Ace was far from out of the spotlight, however, recently performing in the Marcus Ampitheater with Pizzle at Pantherfest earlier this year. Being in the same circle as Pizzle has some benefits, as well: you can hear the influence throughout NOON. Much like Pizzle, you can also hear big beat production from Elusive Orkestra throughout NOON, as well. Jae Ace isn’t Pizzle part two, however. Ace is a hungry spitter, putting his all into each verse, paving his own lane to success.

That being said, Jae Ace can go bar for bar with the best of them, no problem. Even the verse that leads the main page of his website is worthy of a replay, much less the mixtape tracks that follow. There is also something to be said about putting together a complete project from start to finish, which is something that many artists struggle with, regardless of genre. Maybe it’s just a track order choice, or possibly trying to include a standout record to guarantee album circulation, but often times albums and mixtapes can sound disjointed. NOON is not an example of that. The laid back vibe carries most of the sound of this project, with the energy bumped up in select pockets when it’s needed. With just the right mix, NOON by Jae Ace is another shining moment to cap off a solid year of Milwaukee hip hop releases. With projects like this, it’s exciting to see what 2014 will bring for Milwaukee hip hop, and Jae Ace will be one of the artists leading the way if he continues with his current momentum.
