AUDIO: Alexa – “CITY LOVE”

It’s been a little while since we last heard from R&B artist Alexa – she’s been hard at work on a new EP which is out now. It’s four tracks that find the artist getting a lot off her chest and leaning into what she’s really feeling versus what she isn’t. “Vibe” kicks things off with excitement about someone Alexa has a genuine connection with; “Real Love” and “In Love” enlist artists Donno and Mac Hefner respectively to play the parts of said guy, balancing the lovers’ narrative from both perspectives. Then she switches it up with “Take It There”, talking about someone she’s not seeing things going further with. Alexa explores infatuation, working through differences and listening to her heart with “CITY LOVE.”

AUDIO: Alexa – “Wishin'”

R&B artist Alexa has her first single of the year out today. It’s about being swept off your feet by someone while they don’t quite know the effect they have on you. This person came along and changed everything for Alexa; she’s really hoping it works out and wants this person to prove love to her. It’s a bright start for Alexa in 2021 as she shines with the feels; we look forward to hearing what’s next from her.

VIDEO: Mr. Nice Guy With Alexa

Our Music Director, Ben Slowey, is more than on top of the local music scene. In addition to his work for Breaking And Entering, he also hosts the Mr. Nice Guy podcast, an interview-based show that reaches out to Milwaukeeans for conversations about what motivates them. Many of these shows fittingly involve the local music scene, and we’ll be sharing some of them here as well.

Today, Ben talks to R&B artist Alexa, whose debut EP “Long Lost Love” dropped last summer. The video for “Still Got Love” is available now. They discussed Alexa’s year of planning and year of execution, Milwaukee’s up-and-coming R&B scene, working with Philly Flyboy on the new video, embracing for Milwaukee everything it is, and the past relationships that have inspired her writing. VIDEO: Alexa – “Still Got Love”

R&B artist Alexa has been hard at work this summer getting her music out to the people. We’d like to congratulate her on her first video out today! Directed by PhillyFlyBoy, the visual is for the first track off her recent EP “Long Lost Love.” The scene depicts her having a quarrel with her significant other in the car, after which he leaves. She sings about still having love for him even though she’s figuring out what’s next. She knows they’re done for good so she’s out doing things for herself now. There’s choreographed dancing on the beach, and then she and her people go out running into the water together. It’s personable, catchy, and radiates self-love. We can’t wait to see what else Alexa comes out with next.

B&E WEekly Jams Presented by Bublr Bikes: 8/9 – 8/15/20

AUDIO: Alexa – “Long Lost Love”

It hasn’t been long since young R&B singer-songwriter Alexa dropped her debut single “Hard for Me” but before we knew it, she’s already out with a full-length debut project. While her debut song isn’t on here, there’s seven tracks exploring the complexities of love, making it work with someone, being over the games, and realizing self-worth. There’s watery instrumentals under Alexa’s lyrics, manifesting a romantic tension in the air. Alexa is on a roll this summer with the music and she’s certainly a figure folks should know in Milwaukee’s R&B scene. We can’t wait to see what’s in store in the months to come.

AUDIO: Alexa – “Hard For Me”

Singer-songwriter Alexa is out with her debut single. It’s a smooth R&B-pop number with an Afro-Caribbean drumbeat. The song is about Alexa’s significant other not being there when she needs them, making it hard for her to feel the love she deserves. She begs to know if they’ll care when she’s gone. It’s catchy as hell and a perfect vibe for the summer heat. We love seeing new artists on the map and Alexa is certainly on our radar now – we hope she’s had a productive summer of writing and recording.
