Kevin Holliday “Omni” Ep

Kevin Holliday’s new EP “Omni” is a pleasure to listen to start to finish. The six song project features his single “Tennis Courts” which was released earlier this year. The songs individually are fantastic, but listening to the project as a whole start to finish I appreciated the diversity in style. There’s a lot of unique sounds, and it really keeps the listener engaged through the entirety of the EP. The vocals sound great, and the project was completely self mixed and produced by Holliday, making it all the more impressive. It really just shows how talented this man is, and the depth of knowledge he has about himself as an artist really showed through. My favorite song from the project was “Regrets”. The guitar is super funky, and I like the messaging of the song, trying to live life with no regrets. “One day I’ll take. One Step up right in the grave. I’ll make the best of my days. Ain’t tryna live with regrets.” Do yourself a favor and give this EP a listen. You won’t regret it.

AUDIO: Clonethekid – “I thought I was Evil”

Milwaukee based rapper Clonethekid released his knew project “I Thought I Was Evil” October 31st. The heavily anticipated Halloween drop lived up to the hype of the snippets dropped via the rappers Twitter. The EP is the first project of Clone’s in this weird 2020 dystopia we’re living in. That being said, Clone has had a few singles so far in 2020, one of which was a song dropped on Excision’s new label! Things seem to be trending upward for Milwaukee’s next big thing.

I think this project further establishes the versatility and star potential of the young rapper. With songs like “Steak Money” a song that feels more raw and hard, and “On My Mind” which almost feels indie in nature, it’s impressive the quality of both songs are so high. It’s not easy to make songs that feel so vastly different but are also your sound. I think this project provided a balance of all the things I enjoy about listening to Clonethekid’s music, and it makes me excited to think about the future. The only complaint I have is I wish there were more. Digital Dior, the rap collective Clone has been apart of has shown steady growth and output in 2020. It would be cool to see a full length project featuring artists from the collective sort of like what Internet Money did earlier this year.

You can find Clonethekid’s new EP on Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud. We’re enjoying the EP and can’t wait to hear more!

Night Lovell- “Alone”

Night Lovell, the Canadian rapper out of Ottawa gives us a heart felt single. The dark vibe of the beat matches the lyrics in which Lovell describes the very scary and real feelings of suicide. The song captures the moment and feeling of contemplating his very own life. From the lyrics we get a sense that he’s loosing friends the more successful he gets, and this feeling of loneliness among the other feelings of depression may overtake him at any time. Whenever I hear a song with these themes it makes me worry about the artist, but I think songs like these are important to let other people feeling the way know they’re not the only ones. Night Lovell does in this track what he’s always done in his music. He says what he’s feeling no matter how serious the topic. He takes that emotion he feels and puts it into his music, and that’s evident on this new track.

Wifisfuneral New Album “Pain?”

Wifisfuneral gives us his first full length project of 2020. Another product of South Florida that we’ve seen ascend to underground stardom over the past five years, Wifi gives us a completely new sound on his newest album “Pain?”. Wifi, like many rappers and artist, has always done a great job of taking whats going on in his life and translating it into his music. It feels like on this project Wifi’s done a lot of growing as a person, and as an artist. Which makes sense, because when I started listening to Wifi we were both 18. Now he’s 23, and I’m 22, and in that time he’s really evolved his sound.

His sining voice sounds great on the beats and this is evident from the first track on the album “Lost in Time”. My first time listening to it I was shocked. Not just by the complete change in style, but by how even with that change I still felt like I was listening to a Wifisfuneral song. I’m impressed with the versatility Wifi showed on this album and I’d definitely recommend checking this album out if your a seasoned Wifi fan, or have never heard of him before up until now.

Xavier Wulf “Don’t Touch The Remote”

Xavier Wulf, one of the true original Soundcloud legends we have left recently released a new song called “Don’t Touch The Remote”. The song, similar to many Wulf tracks, is short, clocking in at under two minutes. It follows a rather interesting theme of Wulf inviting a girl over and then kicking her out for turning off adult swim. It then goes into a more traditional verse by Wulf before he comes back to the theme of the song. He then invites either the same girl, or a completely new girl back to watch adult swim with him, under the condition that she brings an ounce of weed with her.

I really enjoyed the song. The Alpha K9 has hit us with constant pop culture references about anime and cartoons in his past catalogue of work, and this type of song feels very himself.

I also wanted to cover this song because recently on Twitter Wulf teased that Blood Shore Season 3 would be dropping soon. This album, for many fans including myself, has been nearly 6 years in the making. Blood Shore Season 2 sporting hit classics such as “Thunder Man”, “Mobile Suite Woe”, and “Psycho Pass” was one of Wulf’s most beloved projects. The hype for this album can not be understated, and I can’t wait to listen.

Some other noteworthy news concerning Xavier Wulf was his Twitter interaction with Shoreline Mafia’s OHGEESY. The two rappers who have yet to collab looked to change that by taking to Twitter. Xavier Wulf, to the delight of his fanbase made it known the two should work together. OHGEESY responded seeming to agree they needed to work together. So stay on the look out for that in the future because it should be a banger.

Shoreline Mafia New Album “Mafia Bidness”

Shoreline Mafia, the West Coast group that’s taken the underground rap scene by storm in the past couple of years has just released their longest project to date, “Mafia Bidness”. The highly anticipated album was nothing short of spectacular and delivered everything fans could have ever wanted and more.

With features from the likes of rap legends Wiz Khalifa, Future, O3 Greedo, and a host of others this album delivers Shoreline’s distinct sound in a new refreshing light. The group comprised of OhGeesy, Fenix Flexin, Rob Vicious, and Master Kato seem to only become more cohesive as time passes. Each artist does a great job of feeding off the others energy for the duration of the 21 song album.

I can’t think of a project released recently that has more in the car bumpability. The fast paced beats produced by Ron-Ron and Acetheface should sound familiar to fans as they’ve produced some of Shoreline’s more notable songs Bands, Musty, and Nun Major. In Mob Bidness they go back to the well of beats that have inspired every Shoreline Mafia type beat on Youtube, and give the group the sound they are known for.

I’m so happy Shoreline is back with possibly their best project to date. Giving us something to bop to in one of the most trying summers ever. Sticking to who they are, even in the face of criticism and adversity. In the words of Shoreline “F*** Fox, we sippin juice for life.” Enjoy the new project, I know I am.

Dana Glen “Cold Water”

Debut single “Cold Water” from Appleton based band Dana Glen recently dropped. The new track features a soothing instrumental combination of guitar, keys, and a steady drum beat that can definitely be categorized as a major vibe.

The lyrics talk about a relationship bound together by the fear of being alone, and the contemplation of if the relationship is even worth maintaining. Both parties seem to have distanced themselves from one another, but they seem to need each other at the same time because the thought of being alone is so daunting. I feel like many people that have been in longterm relationships, romantic or otherwise, can attest to how cutting ties can be tough. This song does a great job of tapping into a real emotional thought that many of us have had.

The vocals and general demeanor of the song give off a mellow and relaxed feeling thats supported by smooth back up vocals. It’s a great debut track and I’m excited to see what’s next for Dana Glen.

AUDIO: CloneTheKid – “Go Away”

Singer-songwriter, producer, and secret samurai ClonetheKid is back with another catchy single that incapsulates the attitude of someone who wants to be left alone. The verse, filled with a variety of 1 liner punches, plays over a melodic flute melody that makes you bob your head in a zone like trance. Meanwhile the chorus speaks about the needing for space as the young rapper focuses on his craft. The beat was produced by Boofwell, a frequent collaborator with CTK, and producer ValXR. The Milwaukee natives, part of the rap collective Digital Dior, give us Clone’s first summer single of 2020 and we can’t wait to hear more as the year progresses.
