AUDIO: Jerm Satori Featuring Blizz – “Not For TikTok”

Jerm Satori’s latest single “Not For TikTok,” featuring Blizz, is a refreshing change from the current trend of social media-driven novelty songs. The artists take a mellow beat and infuse it with their sophisticated flows, rapping about their legacies rather than chasing fleeting internet fame. Blizz, a seasoned veteran in the game, delivers an impressive verse full of clever lyrical wordplay that showcases his mastery of the craft. Together, Jerm Satori and Blizz create a track that is both introspective and thought-provoking, reminding listeners of the importance of staying true to oneself and making music that stands the test of time. “Not For TikTok” is a powerful statement from two talented artists who refuse to compromise their art for the sake of social media trends. VIDEO: Vincent Van Great & Amanda Huff – “Double Strawberry Plush”

Vincent Van Great and Amanda Huff released a visual for “Double Strawberry Plush” off their recent tape “Troublemakers.” Shot by Blizz, the video finds three versions of both artists all on an island in the middle of a strawberry universe. They trade off on vocals and get their groove on, singing about soaking up all the pleasure around them. It’s a fitting scene for the seductive and provocative nature of the song, sweeter than your ordinary strawberry.

VIDEO: Blizz – “G.O.S.S.”

All it takes is two minutes for you to see why Blizz has had a lengthy run in Milwaukee hip hop as a supreme lyricist. His latest video, “G.O.S.S.” (Ghost Of Soulja Slim) dropped on Thursday, and it features the SAFS Crew veteran sitting comfortably in his pocket, while calmly barring anyone that tries to test him up. With the spirit of golden era hip hop and the swagger of the new school, the flow on the track feels effortless, as Blizz’s flow and cadence are his strongest assets. The track flips a beat from Jay Electronica’s much anticipated album, which dropped last week, so the turnover here is crazy. Blizz also teased a project called “Form Follows Function” for this summer, so there’s a lot to get excited about here. Check out “G.O.S.S.” below:

VIDEO: Mr. Nice Guy with Blizz

One of our contributors, Ben Slowey, is more than on top of the local music scene. In addition to his work for Breaking And Entering, he also hosts the Mr. Nice Guy podcast, an interview-based show that reaches out to Milwaukeeans for conversations about what motivates them. Many of these shows fittingly involve the local music scene, and we’ll be sharing some of them here as well.

Today, Ben talks with Blizz, whose most recent EP “Five” came out in September. He is a founding member of the group SAFS Crew. They discussed Blizz’s origins producing and rapping from a young age, the formation of Safs Crew, his 2018 EP “Temet Nosce”, his new EP, and numerology. AUDIO: J-Lamo – “Born And Raised”

Since his first EP, “Writer’s Block” dropped in 2016, J-Lamo has only built upon his body of work, keeping his name relevant up until now. Today marks the release of his sophomore project, “Born And Raised”, which also marks his first full-length album. As the title suggests, the tracks are odes to Milwaukee, with songs like “All White Dookies”, “Fond Du Lac” featuring Camb and previous single “53218”. There’s plenty of features as well, with additional cameos including Von Alexander, Blizz, Smokey Jonez and Grey Genius. J-Lamo is only headed upward, and this project is definitely a big milestone moment for his career so far. Check out the new album here below:

AUDIO: Blizz – “Five”

The journey of Blizz (fka Blizz McFly) as an artist has included many twists and turns, but his consistency on the microphone has remained the same, and you can hear that on his new EP, “Five”. Produced entirely by 808xan, the project features some extra hard beats and Blizz getting busy with his verses. There’s a flow that feels effortless on these tracks, which is both a product of veteran craftsmanship on the SAFS Crew emcee’s part and an ear for detail on all aspects of the tracks. Blizz can get lyrical if that’s what you’re looking for, and has made that a calling card for some time, but he truly shines on a project like this with beats that set him up for great things. “Five” is an extremely solid EP, and definitely worth plenty of spins. Check out the project below:

AUDIO: Blizz – “Stay On The Flo”

SAFS Crew emcee Blizz has flown under the radar for the last few years, but when he does pop up, he doesn’t miss a beat. That’s the case on his new single, “Stay On The Flo”. Produced by 40 Mil Da Monsta, the track features some smooth production with a determined flow from Blizz. Lyrically, there are few Milwaukee artists that have the history of thoughtful bars that Blizz does, and they don’t appear to be in short supply in his rhyme book. Hopefully, the track is the start of plenty of new music from Blizz this summer, and you can hear what he’s been up to with “Stay On The Flo” below:

AUDIO: CT – “I Never Asked For This”

In 2017, Milwaukee emcee CT launched his way onto our radar with his impressive “Not Bad For A Blogger” project. Since then, we’ve gotten a mixture of singles and features to help get more acquainted with his sound and flow. That build brings us to the next big step for CT, with the release of his sophomore album, “I Never Asked For This”. With 12 tracks, including recent single split “Lord Willin’ / Ride”, we get a hungry flow from CT, with a little more intensity than we heard on the first project. A slew of features, including Blizz, Genesis Renji, Maal Himself, Yo Dot, Camb and more give the album extra depth, though CT can hold the spotlight on his own when he needs to. Check out “I Never Asked For This” below:

VIDEO: Blizz – “Survival Amongst”

You might not know it, but Blizz (fka Blizz McFly) has been in and around the Milwaukee music scene for over a decade, keeping the name of SAFS Crew alive and well with strong projects, leading up his debut LP, “Temet Nosce”. While things may have derailed a bit from the original release plan, strong visuals from the project are now emerging, including the latest, “Survival Amongst”. The track, produced by Blu Majic Beat Co., features Blizz at his finest, spitting grimy lyrics with a flow that will still go over most people’s heads on the first listen. The accompanying visuals from PwR+media set Blizz in Black Cat Alley, getting his flows off like nobody’s business. “Temet Nosce” is due out before the end of the year, and you can check out the video for “Survival Amongst” here:

AUDIO: J-Lamo Featuring Blizz – “Homer Simpson”

It’s been a little bit since we’ve heard a new track from J-Lamo, but he’s back in a major way with his new single, “Homer Simpson”, featuring Blizz. Produced by Blvck Vmish, the track features a darker, laid back beat, but Lamo and Blizz bring the energy up with their verses, with the former bringing some clever bars, and the latter switching the style up. As J-Lamo describes the track, this is music for pregaming before going out for the night, and that’s a very accurate description of the sound. It can definitely be played any time of day, but feels tailor made for the night time. Check out “Homer Simpson” below:

VIDEO: Blizz – “Temet Nosce”

Don’t ever count Blizz, aka formerly Blizz McFly, out. Over the weekend, he dropped the first video from his upcoming project, “Temet Nosce: Form Follows Function”, set to drop early in 2018. An update on his already lyrical style, Blizz takes to some trap production from Blu Majic Beat Co. on the title track, and throws his own signature flow into the mix. It almost feels as there are two artists in one in the clip, as the second verse’s delivery sounds different from the first, but it all works together well. We’ll learn more about the upcoming project in the coming months, but check out the video for “Temet Nosce” below:
