Breaking And Entering Partners With Hip Hop Week MKE For MKE Showcase & Beat Battle

Hip hop week

We’re thrilled to announce B&E is partnering with Hip Hop Week MKE, an initiative led by Alderman Khalif Rainey (District 7). B&E will be hosting a Milwaukee Hip Hop Showcase at the Miller High Life Theatre on Monday, August 20th from 2:00-5:00 PM, featuring local hip hop artists Genesis Renji, Twan Mack, Renz Young, Shle Berry, BMorn, and Taiyamo Denku, as well as DJ Main.Key. The event is free and open to the public, following the Hip Hop Week MKE press conference at 1:00 in the theatre rotunda.

In addition to the Milwaukee Hip Hop Showcase, B&E will also be presenting a head-to-head beat battle between producers 40Mil Da Monsta and Golden Child at the Milwaukee Bucks’ Block Party to commemorate the opening of the Fiserv Forum on Sunday, August 26th. The format will be the same as the Big Beat MKE tournament, which Breaking And Entering presented at the Jackalope Lounj in the Third Ward earlier this spring, which is a continuation of the Miltown Beatdown producer tournament that was prominent in Milwaukee, created by 88Nine Radio Milwaukee’s Jordan “Madhatter” Lee.

“While we cover all genres, the majority of the music being made in Milwaukee is hip hop” said Breaking And Entering owner Allen Halas. “There’s a lot of talented acts all over the city that often get overlooked.”

The Milwaukee Hip Hop Showcase is just one of several events on the first day of Hip Hop Week MKE, which also includes a keynote address from Milwaukee born R&B singer Rico Love, and a free Master of Ceremonies concert to follow that features local standouts IshDARR, Ray Nitti, JR Scalez, YBN Kenny, and MT Twins. Other events within the week include a concert from Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah at The Rave, as well as RZA: Live from the 36th Chamber at the Oriental Theater in collaboration with Milwaukee Film.
