AUDIO: Slamhaus – “Still Trying”

Milwaukee’s Slamhaus is back, and this time the lo-fi rock project we’ve come to love is taking a left turn into the wires. “Still Trying” merges fuzzed-out guitars with a moody electronic palette that suggests Slamhaus has been spending some quality late-night hours with a sampler and a stack of cables.

If you’ve been following along since “I’m Trying,” the title nod here is almost too good. Where that record leaned into bedroom rock charm, “Still Trying” reframes the same restless, self-deprecating energy through an electronic lens. It’s introspective without being sleepy, danceable without trying too hard, and there’s a warmth running under the programmed beats that keeps it feeling distinctly Milwaukee in the spring — a little overcast, a little hopeful, and very much made in a basement we’d like to hang out in.

Call it growth, call it a detour, call it Slamhaus simply doing what the project name has always implied: smashing styles together until something sticks. Whatever it is, it’s worth your headphones.
