On Friday, Max Niemann and The Fellow Travelers unveiled their debut EP. The Diet Lite frontman and his quintet have already played plenty of shows and have toured, but their first recorded release shows the potential of the Americana outfit. With layers of lapsteel guitar and harmonicas, Niemann’s vocal twang is fully embraced on the four-track project. While still living in a dusty, folk-fueled realm sonically, the songwriting still contains traces of undeniably catchy pop-rock that have become staples of Diet Lite material.
