VIDEO: AWillThaGreat – “Window Pain”

Fresh off of the release of his “Sweatpants In The Summertime” project, AWillThaGreat is back with a visual from the project, for “Window Pain”. The track is a sobering, introspective look into a rocky relationship that isn’t working out, and that comes across over a mellow beat. The video was co-directed by AWill and Colevisions, and captures the feel of that rocky relationship, as well as the aftermath. We definitely have more in store from AWillThaGreat, who you can check out with Camb tonight at Big Beat MKE at Jackalope Lounj, and watch the video for “Window Pain” below:

AUDIO: Camb – “Antetokounmpo”

With the Bucks in the midst of an Eastern Conference final right now, Camb picked the right time to drop a smooth new single, titled “Antetokounmpo”. The song’s title gets used in the track with an updated swing on the Milwaukee = Bucks metaphor that gets some frequent usage locally, but Camb manages to flip it to make it his own. The rest of the track lyrically deals with his hustle to take his career to the next level, as well as some light flexing about where he’s taking things so far. We’re hearing more and more from Camb lately, and he’s definitely deserving of the accolades coming his way. You can catch Camb with AWillThaGreat at Big Beat MKE in two weeks, but stream “Antetokounmpo” below:

VIDEO: Camb – “Coolin'”

Just a couple months after the release of his “Cool” EP, Camb is keeping the buzz around himself building with the release of his new video for “Coolin'”. The track is produced by Young Whack, with a bright beat that compliment’s Camb’s vocals and songwriting well. To match that, we get a brighter video courtesy of director ChrisP, who captures a performance video at Studio 440. Between his EP, a recent Tiny Desk Concert submission for NPR, and a hard drive full of new material (plus a performance at Big Beat MKE on June 6th), Camb is poised for a big summer. Get a preview of that with the clip for “Coolin” below:

AUDIO: Renz Young – “MANTRA”

Milwaukee artist and Vogel Park Records head Renz Young celebrated a birthday on Monday, and appropriately, dropped a pair of new tracks in celebration as well. Labeled as “MANTRA”, the mini-EP consists of “The Blessings” and “Pendants”. The first track has a luxurious feel to it, with a triumphant trumpet sample leading the beat, and Renz spitting with determination. The B-side is grittier, with the swagger coming more from Young’s verse than the production. The combination of tracks makes for a strong 1-2 punch, and serves as both a celebratory release and a reminder that Renz Young can drop at any time and almost assuredly put out a strong product. Check out “MANTRA” below:

AUDIO: Tyso SPRME Featuring Dom’ McNeal – “Winter Sunset”

While we may be (very) slowly moving away from winter, Tyso SPRME and Dom’ McNeal aren’t done being cold just yet. Today, the pair dropped “Winter Sunset” a new standalone single that highlights their individual contributions well. With some reflective production, both emcees put in work on their verses, bouncing off of one another with rapid fire flows. You’ll likely need at least two plays on this one just to catch all of the bars, either from the speed or the wordplay. The track is a testament to the grind that both Tyso and Dom’ put into their craft over the last couple of years, and we’ll likely hear more from both very soon. Check out “Winter Sunset” below:

AUDIO: Renz Young – “Demanding”

On the heels of his 2018 standout, “Maybe We Should Figure This Out” EP, Renz Young isn’t slowing down. Last week, we got the release of his third single following the project, “Demanding”. Self-produced (as most of his tracks are), the new single features a strong beat full of bass, and a swagger-filled flow from the Vogel Park emcee. As a veteran artist at this point, Renz doesn’t lose his hunger on the microphone, showcasing his style whenever possible on this song. We know that Vogel Park is always continuing to grind, so we’ll see where that takes Renz and the label in the near future. Check out “Demanding” below:

AUDIO: Von Alexander – “Solange”

Von Alexander has been teasing new music lately, with social media clips of him in the studio working with a variety of producers. Today, we get a new single with “Solange”, a stylish new track that has a healthy amount of bump to it as well. Produced by J.Robb, the song features Von’s signature flow, with bars about being determined to make it, and having a girl to hold you down at the same time. If this is the first of many tracks to come, and it definitely seems like it is, we’re in for a hot summer from Von Alexander. Check out “Solange” below:

AUDIO: AWillThaGreat – “Sweatpants In The Summertime”

After plenty of buildup, and several freestyles, AWillThaGreat released his new EP, “Sweatpants In The Summertime” on Thursday. The new project is six tracks from the Vogel Park creative, featuring plenty of smoothed out beats and flows that mix bars and melody. For the most part, this is a solo tape, with the only feature coming from Von Alexander on “CRZY”. While AWill isn’t diving into R&B, there’s definitely more harmony on this project, and you can hear the influence of mainstream hybrid artists like Drake and 6lack. Between videos, photos, and music, AWillThaGreat constantly keeps his creative output going, but “Sweatpants” is definitely a hallmark in his catalog so far, and you can check out the project for yourself below:

AUDIO: Camb – “Cool!” (Premiere)

Milwaukee artist Camb is a name to watch when it comes to local artists having a big year. Today, we have the premiere of his latest EP, “Cool!”, a three-track offering that has a swagger-filled feel to it. The title track is smooth as ever, with a carefree feel from the singer/rapper extraordinaire. “Coolin”, the follow up, shows off Camb’s vocal range in a more melodic sense, over a beat with plenty of bass from Young Whack. The trio rounds out with “Cool Whip”, which brings the flow from the first track and the melody of the second together. This is a fun EP that shows you just what you’ve been missing if you’ve been late to Camb’s style. Check out “Cool!” below:

AUDIO: Renz Young – “Nothing Left”

With his second single in around a month, Renz Young continues his long-standing reputation of putting out top-notch hip hop. Young produced this single as well, with an ultra-smooth feel to it, and a flow that has a cadence so free that it almost feels melodic. Couple in a crispy trumpet line and an extra-clean piano, and you can hear Renz Young at his peak from a creative standpoint. We know that Renz has a lot on his hands between his own career and the Vogel Park roster routinely putting out music. “Nothing Left” is a gem, and arguably one of the strongest songs to come out of Milwaukee so far this year. Check it out below:

AUDIO: AWillThaGreat – “Space Invader”

AWillThaGreat’s “Freestyle February” is winding to a close, leading up to the release of his upcoming album, “Sweatpants In The Summertime”. The latest freestyle from AWill is “Space Invader” a track that showcases the Milwaukee emcee’s flow at its peak. Produced by Vogel Park head Renz Young, the track is all business, getting in and out in just under two minutes. In that timeframe though, AWillThaGreat delivers some quotable bars at double speed. We’re looking forward to “Sweatpants In The Summertime”, but you can check out “Space Invader” here below:

AUDIO: Camb – “For Nothing.”

Camb recently disclosed on his Facebook that he has the better part of 400 songs sitting in his hard drive currently. That determination and effort is unrivaled by many accounts. His latest, “For Nothing.” captures that determination, with lyrics detailing that he works hard, but does so for his family and the people closest to him. The song is self-written, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered, so it’s a full display of Camb’s talents, of which there are many. Hopefully we’re getting more of the 400 or so songs Camb has ready soon, but at this point, nobody can say that he isn’t working. Check out “For Nothing.” below:

AUDIO: AWillThaGreat – “Hunt”

In between his time directing videos, shooting photos, and being creative as a part of the Vogel Park team, AWillThaGreat also has time to get on the microphone, releasing a new track weekly for “Freestyle February”. The latest from AWill is “Hunt”, a strong, lyrical track that packs a lot into a little under three minutes. With a bouncing instrumental from Roid Beats, we get a flow that feels effortless on the freestyle, with some slick bars within the content, including to references to Milwaukee rappers Von Alexander and Pizzle. We know we’re getting a couple of new freestyles soon, as well as the release of his upcoming “Sweatpants In The Summertime” project. Keep up with the latest on “Hunt” below:

AUDIO: Tyso SPRME Featuring Camb – “Pretty Penny”

At this point, it’s pretty much established that just about anybody on the Vogel Park roster can put out a strong track that will become must-listen material. That’s the case for the latest from Tyso SPRME, “Pretty Penny”. Featuring production from Hyperviolet, and a guest verse from one of the strongest players on the Park team, Camb, the track is a love song with a higher energy than most. While SPRME’s delivery has some swagger to it, lyrically, the track has a different feel than most songs with that particular style of flow. Camb adds an autotune-heavy verse that includes some falsetto work, which compliments Tyso’s verse well. Vogel Park has no end to their run in sight, so check out their latest with “Pretty Penny” below:

VIDEO: Von Alexander – “Bills”

Von Alexander had one of the strongest local hip hop projects of last year with his well-received album, “Alexander”. We’re starting to get the visual components to that release, including the latest video for “Bills” from the back half of the album. Shot by fellow Vogel Park artist AWillThaGreat, “Bills” is a laid-back, chilled-out track that deals with the success that everyone strives for and the lifestyle that comes with it. It feels as though we’re watching Vogel Park evolve right before our very eyes, and Von will undoubtedly be a major part of that process. Check out the video for “Bills” below:

VIDEO: Camb – “Stay Down”

Recently, Camb kicked off his 2019 in a big way by releasing his single, “Stay Down”. The track features production from Pdubcookin and Edgar Songz, and smooth bars from the Vogel Park singer about doing what it takes to keep a relationship while having a tight budget. The performance clip comes courtesy of fellow Vogel Park artist AWillThaGreat. It’s a solid look, and definitely a good indicator that Camb is going to be putting out some high quality content in the coming months. Check out the video for “Stay Down” below:

AUDIO: Renz Young – “DOA”

You cannot deny the motivation of Vogel Park label head Renz Young. While we haven’t heard much from the Milwaukee artist since August, save for a pair of freestyles, Renz is back with a new single “DOA”. The self-produced track is some of Young’s strongest work on the beat, and the track talks about how hard Renz is working, which is evident. We got four different EPs from Young last year, so nobody would fault him if he took a few months off, but it looks like there’s no slowing down, and you can hear that on “DOA” below:

AUDIO: Camb – “Lil Petty”

Fresh off of releasing a single last Friday, Camb is already back with another drop. This week’s release is “Lil Petty”, a smooth track set to some glitched out production from AJSounds. This song sounds like more of a hybrid than most that we get from the Milwaukee singer, with electronic elements and off-kilter drums that get tied together by his voice. Creatively, it’s an extension of the sound that we’ve grown comfortable with hearing Camb on, and that’s a good thing for the near future. With two tracks out a week apart, it’s safe to assume that Camb is working on something substantial for this year. Check out the latest with “Lil Petty” below:

AUDIO: Camb – “Stay Down.”

You may know Camb best as the man behind many of your favorite local artist’s tracks, but he is definitely poised for big things, and you can hear that on his latest, “Stay Down.” The Vogel Park crooner is part hip hop, part R&B, and you can get the best of both worlds on the new song. The track deals with keeping a significant other while dealing with financial struggles, and an ambition for better things. With lines about splurging by going to Applebee’s, you get the wit of Camb’s songwriting on this track. His delivery, and ability to switch to a melodic flow, are what make the track. There’s definitely much more on the way from Camb soon, but check out “Stay Down.” below:

VIDEO: Von Alexander – “Holy Ghost”

Just when you thought his already major year was wrapped up, Von Alexander gave the city another present on Christmas day, with the release of his latest video, “Holy Ghost”. Shot by Bren End Films, the performance clip places Von on the streets, spitting over production from Krs. The track comes from Von’s “Alexander” project, which made some major waves for him this year, in addition to the other two EPs that he released leading up to the full project. This clip adds to an already impressive 2018 run from Von, and it feels like this is only the start of something major for the Milwaukee rapper. Check out “Holy Ghost” below:

AUDIO: Camb – “Cambsmas: With Friends”

‘Tis the season to celebrate. While there are a few holiday albums out this year, many don’t come from Milwaukee’s hip hop scene. Enter Camb, aka Cambta Claus in recent weeks, who delivered a new EP, “Cambsmas: With Friends”. The Vogel Park crooner gift wraps three new tracks on his holiday release, with features from Mudy, D. Bridge, and Rob Knapp. From re-working the sometimes-problematic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” to the smoothness on “Merry Christmas To, You”, you can see why the R&B singer is highly regarded not only within his camp, but within the city as well. Camb had a big 2018, and this is a fitting way to cap off the year. Check out “Cambsmas: With Friends” below:

AUDIO: Von Alexander – “B-Sides”

With a pair of strong EPs and a stellar full length album, Von Alexander has been on one for most of 2018. That being said, Von likely could have been done releasing music for the year and had a very solid body of work to show for it. However, over the weekend, we got three new tracks, written and recorded in a matter of days, with a “B-Sides” collection from Von. Realistically, all three tracks could have fit into his projects this year, but do just fine on their own as a new EP. We got three great projects from him this year, but who knows what is next for Von in 2019. In the meantime, check out the “B-Sides” collection below:

VIDEO: Von Alexander – “Demons”

In the current climate of streaming, where an artist’s entire catalog is available with a click of a button, it’s a wonder why people don’t promote their older music more than normal. However, Von Alexander pulled a visual from his “Mayhem1993” project for his latest piece of content, with the exceptional clip for “Demons”. While the track is from a few projects ago, it is still a fan favorite, and the track has new life thanks to the work of directors Brett Schmidt and David Naida. It’s a new, yet old video, but a testament to the quality of music that Von has been making for some time now. Check out the video for “Demons” below:

AUDIO: Tyso SPRME – “No Brakes”

In the midst of the wave of Vogel Park artists making a name for themselves within the past year, Tyso SPRME had been playing a little bit of a smaller role, appearing largely in guest appearances until now. Tyso just put out his “No Brakes” project, which is definitely a breakout into the larger Milwaukee music scene from the community that already knows him. With energetic flows over contemporary trap production, Tyso has his style dialed in, and “No Brakes” is the heart of all of that. If you are unfamiliar with Tyso SPRME, this is the project to give you a great idea of what young Milwaukee artist is all about. Check out “No Brakes” below:

AUDIO: AWillThaGreat – “Pick It Up” (Premiere)

While much of his catalog is focused on more conscious content, there are many dimensions to Milwaukee emcee AWillThaGreat. Today we have the premiere of a new club-ready cut, “Pick It Up”. Slotted with a beat from Austin Marc that supplies plenty of bounce, AWill cuts loose on this one, with bars about money, girls, and excess. However, unlike your typical club track, AWillThaGreat brings something different to the table, with an ability to switch up to a double-time flow on command. While being aware of the simplicity of pop records that dominate many DJs’ sets, “Pick It Up” goes beyond that, giving you a reminder of what the Vogel Park artist can do if the track calls for it. Enjoy your weekend with the premiere of “Pick It Up” below:
