AUDIO: FORCE – “We Carry Heavy Blood”
Milwaukee’s FORCE doesn’t deal in subtlety, and their new full-length “We Carry Heavy Blood” makes that abundantly clear from the opening seconds. Released May 22, the record is ten tracks and roughly 41 minutes of pure, unfiltered heaviness — the kind that rattles drywall and reorganizes your internal organs in the best way possible.
From the lead-off track “A Heavy Weight” through the closing crush of “Like Skin to Skull,” FORCE moves with the kind of conviction you only get from a band that’s been sharpening its teeth in basements, dive bars, and DIY spaces across the Midwest. There’s a hardcore-adjacent urgency baked into songs like “Thought Police,” “Self Defense,” and “Return Fire,” while cuts like “The Witches Still Burn” and “Year of the Snake” lean into slower, more pummeling territory — riffs built to be detuned, dragged out, and screamed back at the stage.
“The Vow,” “Death Wish,” and “Burdens” round out a tracklist that never lets up. This is metal that refuses to apologize for taking up space, and FORCE clearly has no interest in writing background music. It’s confrontational, it’s cathartic, and it’s exactly the kind of record Milwaukee’s heavy underground has been quietly cooking up for years.
