AUDIO: Von Venn – “Only In The Night”

Von Venn’s “Only In The Night” is out now and it is a breakup song that others miss completely. This isn’t about betrayal or dramatic fights, instead, Gary Cox explores that gut wrenching moment when two people who care about each other realize they want different things from life.

The opening riff is the ideal opening, creating a hook before the rhythm section takes over with something you can actually get lost in. Gary Cox’s vocals work beautifully here, floating over the instrumentation without ever feeling detached from it. The female harmonies add exactly the right amount of texture without crowding the mix.

What makes this track special is how it handles mature relationship dynamics. Gary sings about making difficult decisions not out of anger, but from understanding. That’s harder to write about than explosive breakups, and definitely harder to make compelling. Von Venn manages both.

The chorus builds naturally from the verses, creating something that sticks around in your head for days. Also, the production gives everything room to breathe while maintaining enough momentum to keep you engaged throughout. Dublin’s indie scene has produced plenty of bands, but Von Venn brings emotional intelligence that sets them apart.

If this represents what Von Venn brings to their upcoming album “Forgetting the Fall,” they might have something really substantial on their hands.
