Take the sad thoughts, but give it a beat. That’s the m.o. for singer/songwriter Jacob Slade, who returned on Thursday with a new single, “Wake Up.” The song takes the inner monologue of feeling frustrated with the world and tells you to snap out of it. With rumbling drums and synth layers to give things extra depth, Slade is telling himself to get out of this hole that he’s found himself in, and ultimately realize that the world is not against him.
