Vanity Plates recently put out a new record, and they cope with the world on “Good Grief.” Beginning with a two-part reflection on the world, the band eventually develops an infectious indie pop styling that will have you swaying along from time to time. With pristine songwriting, offset by lo-fi tones, the band have the formula for making a record that you can’t put down. The band also are unafraid to take steps sonically, invoking brass and synthetic elements if the song calls for it. However, “Good Grief” lives and dies on straight ahead indie rock with poise and purpose, and that’s exactly where the band’s sweet spot lies. Check out the album here:
