AUDIO: PILES – “5:53”
Dreamy post-punk project PILES have returned with their first new record since 2017, out on Burgle Records. It’s seven songs, starting with the seven-minute long “Los Globos/Walk Em If You Got Em” which kicks things into high-gear with a rousing psychedelic odyssey of dancing guitar and bass lines that establishes the band’s merry return. This is sustained with the noisy, sunny effervescence of songs like “Ice Age” and “Paris” that carry the band’s bright and affable indie rock sensibilities. Things finish with “Dana Damn/Backflush The Exits”, a nearly ten-minute long, two-part composition that drives the atmosphere like a desert storm.
