The sage wisdom of Bruce Lee is always mesmerizing, but especially interesting when juxtaposed against the never-ending thump of Thomas Xavier’s latest single, “Spiritual Gangsta.” The song is three minutes and 33 seconds of pure club banger, but assisted with vocal samples from Lee’s famous “be water” interview. While this track likely won’t ring off in the club with the vocals attached to it, the sample does seemingly get just a little more meaningful when you hear it surrounded by a house music bop. In a way, it kind of feels like someone trying to explain their life story to you in the middle of the club, but more impactful because, well, it’s Bruce Lee.
