Action Chief is a new noise rock/post-punk project featuring members of bands such as Conan Neutron & the Secret Friends and Resurrectionists. Their debut record is out now after several years in the making, and it’s five tracks of cacophonous rock and roll that juxtaposes powerhouse hooks with aggressive riffage. A song like “I Don’t Need You (To Show Me How to Fuck This Up)” roars with punkish catchiness while a longer song like “White Knuckle Incompetence” has plenty of room to breathe with dense, dissonant soundscapes. Action Chief rattle the house with “Just the Solos.”
