AUDIO: Cherimoya – “Cherimoya”

The best bedroom pop should sound like it truly comes from a bedroom, and that’s the case with Cherimoya’s self-titled debut album. The ten track effort is everything that you want from a lo-fi record. There’s minimal, blue sounding synths, simplistic drum patterns, and Olivia Wood’s vocals crooning over the top of that canvas. While the style may be minimalist, the tone and production are everything that helps convey the emotion of this record. Tracks can feel like they drone on at times, but they’re the soundtrack for lazy days that are meant to feel the same way. It’s interesting to hear this as a first record from Cherimoya, as they have all the potential in the world with this early release. Check out the self-titled album below:
