You may not know this, but Milwaukee’s hardcore scene is incredibly strong, with many DIY acts putting in work to make a name for themselves beyond the city limits. One such band is Mud Dog, who have a blistering new EP, “Strike Back”. In just under ten minutes, the band fires off five tracks, mixing up as many staples of the hardcore sound that they can into a punishing blend of riffs, gang vocals, and varying tempos. In many ways, the EP is a whirlwind, taking you from track to track hardly enough time to process what just happened before it’s over. “Strike Back” could go toe-to-toe with just about any popular hardcore album, though, and hold its own.
