Detenzione kicked the doors down with their debut EP, “Vol. 1” last year, and they continue to do that with their new release, “Vol. 2”, which came out today. While the first installment of the band’s thrashing brand of hardcore punk was a little rough around the edges, that’s definitely not the case on “Vol. 2”. The band is still making short, intense songs, but sound much tighter as a whole on this EP. A year of playing out, including a tour of Japan, will do that to you. Songs like “Proud Scum” and closer “Fogging Glass” are downright brutal, and it almost feels as though the band is trying to play faster than they know how to, which is just what you want from a punk band.
