Milwaukee Artist of the Week – 6/13/14 – Human After All

This week’s Milwaukee Artist of the Week is Human After All, a pop punk group that packs a punch in all of their work. The group is in their second year as a band, but you couldn’t tell that at all from listening to them. They definitely sound very polished as a group, which means there’s an incredible amount of natural talent involved. With a sound heavily influenced from bands like Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, and Brand New, it’s easy to draw comparisons to the pop punk heroes of the early 00s. However, Human After All have crafted their own variation of what made those band so huge, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a great deal of success for them, as well.

While the group did recently release the first single from their upcoming EP, the project that really sold me on the group was their debut EP, “Growing Up”. Released in July of last year, the EP is four tracks of solid emo, in all of it’s teen angst glory. With really solid production throughout, the band makes a name for themselves with some catchy hooks, guitar-driven chugs when you need them, and just enough gang vocals. As someone who grew up listening to a lot of pop punk, I can really appreciate what these guys are doing, and where they’re headed.

One listen to their new single, “More Of The Same”, and you can tell that the band’s new release, “The Forty Foot Bridge EP” is only a step upward. With more well written material like this, it won’t be long before the band take things to the next level. Stream “More Of The Same”, along with all of “Growing Up”, below:
