Milwaukee’s experimental underground has always rewarded the patient listener, and Dosing Deities are betting the farm on that fact with their latest offering, “The Long Dissolve.” Released via the ever-reliable Utech Records, this is not background music for your morning coffee — unless your morning coffee involves staring into the middle distance and reconsidering your life choices.

True to its title, “The Long Dissolve” unfolds slowly, layering drone, texture, and a hypnotic sense of decay into something that feels less like a record and less like a séance. The Milwaukee duo leans hard into the ambient-experimental tradition, building soundscapes that creep, hum, and occasionally bare their teeth. Fans of slow-burn psychedelia, dark ambient, and the kind of music that makes you check whether your speakers are possessed will find plenty to chew on here.

Utech Records, known for curating some of the most adventurous experimental releases out there, has also issued a CD version — the appropriately-named Lysergic Trepanation Edition — for physical media diehards who like their album titles to sound like medical procedures from the 14th century.
