AUDIO: transient – “1.”
Milwaukee’s underground experimental scene just got another curious entry to obsess over. transient, the project operating under the Transient Music House banner, has unveiled a new release simply titled “1.” — and if the minimalist name is any indication, you should be prepared to let the sound do the talking.
True to its experimental tag, “1.” trades conventional hooks for texture, atmosphere, and the kind of patient sonic exploration that rewards close listening. It’s the sort of release that feels less like a song collection and more like a transmission — drifting between ambient drones, fractured rhythms, and moments of unexpected melodic clarity. Headphones strongly recommended; passive background listening, not so much.
What makes “1.” particularly compelling is how it fits into Milwaukee’s quietly thriving experimental underground. While the city is often celebrated for its punk, indie, and hip hop output, projects like transient prove there’s a whole parallel universe of sound being built in basements, bedrooms, and DIY spaces across town — and it deserves your attention.
Stream “1.” in full on Bandcamp below, and consider throwing a few bucks the artist’s way if it moves you. Independent experimental music doesn’t make itself.
