If you’ve been waiting for a record that sounds like watching a candle melt in slow motion while the room hums along, Dosing Deities have you covered. The experimental outfit’s latest full-length, “The Long Dissolve,” is out now via Utech Records, the long-running imprint that has built its reputation on releasing some of the more adventurous and texturally rich music in the underground.

True to its title, “The Long Dissolve” is less a collection of songs than a gradual erosion. The record leans into drone, abstract atmosphere, and the kind of patient, breath-by-breath pacing that rewards headphones and dim lighting. There are no choruses to hum on your commute, but there is a lot to sink into — layered tones that smear into one another, distant percussive shapes, and a sense that the entire album is exhaling for forty-some minutes straight.

It’s the kind of release that doesn’t ask for your attention so much as quietly absorb it. Put it on while you’re working, while you’re staring out a window, or while you’re pretending to meditate — it works in all three modes, and arguably a few more.
