Milwaukee power-pop stalwarts The Pulltops are back with another earworm, and this time they’re digging into the green-eyed monster we all know too well.

“Jealousy” dropped on May 8th, and it’s the kind of track that makes you nod your head before you even realize you’re doing it. Clocking in at just over three and a half minutes, the duo of Mark Pierret and Tom Crowell deliver a tight, punchy slice of indie rock that fits neatly into their decades-long catalog of hook-laden gems.

The track rides on a danceable groove—sitting at around 120 BPM with a solid energy level that keeps things moving without going full throttle. There’s a tension in the music that mirrors its subject matter; the production is polished but never overcooked, letting the melody do the heavy lifting. It’s got that signature Pulltops sound—60s and 70s rock influences filtered through a modern indie lens—that’s made them a fixture on the local scene since their Udi Subudi days back in the early 2000s.

For a band that’s been crafting power-pop in Milwaukee for over two decades, The Pulltops continue to prove they’ve still got plenty left in the tank. “Jealousy” is another strong addition to a discography that rewards repeat listens.
