Earlier this month, jazz musician Cody Steinmann released an experimental new track, “My Own Damn Music,” that is nothing short of captivating. The track is built around a profound trumpet part, with percussion that feels like perpetual motion behind it, and the occasional sting of a synth effect to take things in a new direction. The creative boundaries are off here, as Steinmann’s trumpet and then a smooth jazz guitar get the chance to shine. It makes for an extended jam that you don’t want to end.
