Joey Turbo of Rio Turbo, Platinum Boys, Messy and more has a new album that dropped on Friday, and it feels like the diary of a turbulent couple of years in his life. From multiple stints in a hospital to the recent closure of his bar and venue, Promises, Turbo has lived through a lot in that period, and that comes out on this release. “Up Against The Wall Motherfucker” experiments with heavy, retro feeling synths and drums that play with pop in a way that Rio Turbo didn’t, and a jangly, guitar driven songs that doesn’t feel like Platinum Boys.
