Synth lords Immortal Girlfriend are back with a new EP today, and they’re exploring a variety of sounds on “Sojourner.” The concept behind the project is that life is temporary, and we aren’t here for long, so we should embrace what the world throws at us and live in the moment. The project also reflects the band’s trials and tribulations as of the last few years, per an Instagram post about the release. That being said, sonically, the brothers do not limit where this record goes. The title track is a dark, brooding affair, but songs like “All I Want” are more danceable, and it all works together in the context of the project.
