Big Beat MKE 2023 Night One Recap

Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward was alive on Thursday, as the Big Beat MKE beat battle kicked off its opening round at Jackalope Lounj. The event drew a large crowd at Jackalope Lounj, eager to witness some of the city’s top producers go head-to-head in a night of intense competition.
The first battle of the night featured two talented producers, DuffThePro and Dead Ba$$. The two went back and forth with a barrage of dynamic sounds, each trying to outdo the other. In the end, it was DuffThePro who emerged victorious, impressing the judges with his just a bit more knock to his beats that put him over the edge.
The second battle was an even closer contest between Kaskit and SphinxDaGod. Both first-time battle contestants delivered solid rounds, with SphinxDaGod having some heavy bass, and both producers introducing rock elements into their trap sound. Ultimately, it was Kaskit who ultimately took the win, thanks to the support of the crowd vote tiebreaker.
In addition to the beat battles, two rappers also took to the stage to showcase their talents. 2Hi went first, and he certainly didn’t disappoint, taking his performance right into the crowd and up to the balcony of the Jackalope Lounj. The energy was palpable as he moved throughout the room with the Unfinished Legacy cronies behind him.
The second rapper of the night was Richie P. Goldchain, who moved the crowd with his slick bars and impressive flow. He also brought up rapper/producer AG Da Gift to perform some material together, giving the lyrical fans something to nod along to.
Overall, the first night of the Big Beat MKE beat battle was a huge success, with a packed crowd and some truly impressive performances. The competition was fierce, and the judges had a tough time deciding on the winners. The crowd made for an electric atmosphere, and we’re just getting started.
