Strap in, and get ready to go on a quest. The latest from the Cody Steinmann Trio, “Zydoc,” is exactly that, clocking in at more than eight minutes of a progressive fusion of guitar rock and jazz. The composition lives on an upright bass line, which gives everything a dark, explorative overtone. That gives way eventually to Steinmann’s guitar, which can plink clean notes at you or scream distorted ones at will. The experimental nature of the song allows for the instrumentation to go in a variety of different ways, and the trio explore different elements in their jam. Things mellow out, but are not devoid of psychedelic elements and big sounds. “Sydoc” is an adventure, and certainly one you should listen to. Check it out here below:
