With a rambling introduction, Benjamin Trick’s latest single rolls into what ultimately becomes a five-and-a-half minute epic. “The Cowboy” was released this spring, with a roadhouse feel to kick things off. Trick tells the story of a renegade cowboy, doing as he pleases. Ultimately, though, that bluesy tone gives way to a wild guitar solo, and then the axes might as well take a life of their own. The song gets progressively heavier, before becoming a full on rocker in the latter half of the record. The intensity picks up, and before you know it, Trick and his band are slaying guitars as a force to be reckoned with. “The Cowboy” is a great track for anyone that digs blues rock and out of this world fretwork.
