Singer/songwriter John Hefter recently released a jazzy new single, “Hopeless Spell.” With just the singer and a piano, Hefter paints the picture of being born into a rough environment, and figuring out life for himself. It also talks about the haves vs. the have-nots, and the emptiness that people can encounter when making it to an elevated position in the world. It’s written from a deep thinker’s perspective, and makes you reflect on the world. There’s a certain hipness to what John Hefter is doing here, and you’ll catch that in the first listen.
