VIDEO: Mr. Nice Guy with Shell Bells

Our Music Director, Ben Slowey, is more than on top of the local music scene. In addition to his work for Breaking And Entering, he also hosts the Mr. Nice Guy podcast, an interview-based show that reaches out to Milwaukeeans for conversations about what motivates them. Many of these shows fittingly involve the local music scene, and we’ll be sharing some of them here as well.

Today on Mr. Nice Guy, Ben sat down with singer-songwriter Shell Bells, whose music often incorporates themes of spirit and fantasy. She’s also the co-founder of Clarke Street Fest in Riverwest. They discussed Shell’s inception into Milwaukee music during a folk revivalist era, the Low Down Sound days, how fantasy can be used to teach life lessons, her use of auxiliary instruments and looping pedal, and her residency at Angelo’s Piano Lounge.
