VIDEO: Mr. Nice Guy with Eston Bennett

Our Music Director, Ben Slowey, is more than on top of the local music scene. In addition to his work for Breaking And Entering, he also hosts the Mr. Nice Guy podcast, an interview-based show that reaches out to Milwaukeeans for conversations about what motivates them. Many of these shows fittingly involve the local music scene, and we’ll be sharing some of them here as well.

Today, Ben talks with singer-songwriter and upright bassist Eston Bennett, who plays with Thriftones, Matthew Davies, Joseph Huber, Abdou Khadre Kambaye, and in Jesse Walker’s Hitch in addition to his solo material. His debut record “Old Time Arrangements, Vol 1” came out in 2017. They discussed Eston’s early days joining orchestra as a thing to do with his friends, the various musicians he plays with, R&B music he’s working on, appreciating Wilco, and the Twin Cities music scene (where he went to college).
