AUDIO: Frenia – “TARV 4+11.5”

Improvisational noise group Frenia (Pedro Gutierrez, Ryan Winslow Jann, and Connor Jann) are out with a new recording. Scattered percussion, drone crescendos, schizophrenic keyboards, radio static, random vocal chants, and the occasional shaking of objects are all favorite sonic methods of Frenia, and this track features all of that in full force. While noise music is not exactly accessible to conventional pop music aficionados, it’s not supposed to be. The definition of music itself gets challenged through these chaotic and formless passages but in a way that is nonetheless beautiful and thoughtful. This is another great installment from Frenia and we look forward to hearing more in the future. It’s different every time.
