Look, we could all use a smile right now. Singer/songwriter Pete Freeman recognized that, and put out a new EP of simple, fun songs with “Songs For Smiling”. The three-track project details everything from a night out on the town to having a big head, to Jesus believing in the zodiac. The songs are self-recorded, and Freeman’s delivery is somewhere between the storytelling of early country acts and the harmonies of indie rock. It’s not overt comedy, but the release does, in fact, make you smile with innocent quips that make you smirk as soon as you hear it. We needed a smile, and Pete Freeman definitely provided that.
