Every once in a while, an album falls onto our radar after the fact that is unconventionally new and genuinely feels different. The latest album to do that is Jake Marin’s “Wind Not Waves”, which was released earlier this summer. With a combination of experimental drones and more polished indie folk, the album is in a different territory, merging two genres that don’t often intersect. It feels like a transformation in some ways, with the experimental elements making way for a more structured song when needed. “Wind Not Waves” is definitely a release that flew under the radar, but deserves more attention with each listen that it garners.
