Milwaukee fusion band Frugal Stu & The Coupons are a band that rely on true musicianship and creativity, and their latest project, “Chapter 7” represents all of that. Within the course of seven songs, some fittingly named for franchises that have filed for bankruptcy, the band gets to display a myriad of talent, with extended jams that leave room for any of the band’s members to take the lead, from prominent auxiliary percussion on opener “Funcoland” to the moving bass line that slides in on “Enron”. While there’s a lot of emphasis on lyrics these days, Frugal Stu & The Coupons manage to grip you with their instrumentation on this release. Check out “Chapter 7” below:
