AUDIO: SistaStrings – “Lift”
SistaStrings are something truly unique within the Milwaukee music scene. The duo of Chauntee and Monique Ross have a way to blend classical strings with elements of soul, gospel and R&B, and that comes across in their recently released debut EP, “Lift”. There’s no denying that both Ross sisters are technically proficient as a violinist and cellist respectively, but both also bring strong vocals to this project, which gives their work an extra dimension completely. The duo honed their skills growing up by playing in churches throughout the Midwest, and you can hear where some of those influences come into play on this record. “Lift” more than serves its purpose as a formal introduction to SistaStrings, and the performances on this EP will make you come back to appreciate the work that the Ross sisters are doing.
