There’s been an increase in the buzz surrounding The Bbys, a DIY-indie-punk band making a name for themselves by playing out regularly, predominately in Riverwest. The band is looking to take that even further, though, with the release of their new self-titled album, which was made available online last weekend. The band embodies the DIY ethos of punk, but incorporates elements of lo-fi power pop as well, giving their sound an extra dimension in the process. Only three tracks top out over three minutes in length, but the rest of the album doesn’t sound rushed, either. There’s several mellow, short jams that have a certain thickness of garage rock to them. All in all, a solid release from a young band, and we’ll see where that propels them to next.
