AUDIO: Velly Slums – “Apt. 8”

Last week, Velly Slums added to his catalog of work with a new tape, “Apt. 8”. The project is ten new tracks from Velly, with features from Brandon Levy, CT, and Genesis Renji. The tape opens with the humble hook of “I’m Good”, then immediately sets the tone for the rest of the release with Velly’s verses doing a 180. A determined flow takes over, accented by zoned out, smooth production. An interesting layer of depth also comes in the form of social commentary on tracks like “Vadil Glover”, which for the most part isn’t necessarily what you’d expect on a project from a Milwaukee artist. That track ends up pulling you into the project, and shows you that Velly Slums has incredible potential to evolve his career to the always elusive next level.
