AUDIO: Juiceboxxx – “Freaked Out American Loser”

Kids, we’re a long way from the Thunder Zone. Today we have a new album from perennial underground favorite Juiceboxxx, entitled “Freaked Out American Loser”. If there was ever such a thing as “punk rap”, and there probably is, this album falls under that category. From Juiceboxxx’s overall demeanor, to literal punk songs like “Destruction and Redemption” and “No Good Way To Grow Up” it feels very, well, punk, but that’s also how Juiceboxxx earned his reputation. There’s also the overarching theme of realizing that there’s a shelf life to the act that the Milwaukee emcee developed in the mid-2000s. That being said, nobody is getting sick of the music being created by the guy that developed his own sound, label, energy drink, and various other entities for himself any time soon. Overall, “Freaked Out American Loser” is uniquely the sound that only Juice could create, living somewhere in the awkward space between punk and hip hop, but maintaining the ethos that we’ve come to know and love.
