This week’s Milwaukee Artist of the Week is The Siege Perilous, a 4 piece alternative group consisting of frontman Peter Grau, drummer Andy Stone, guitarist Amir Hamizadeh, and bassist Troy Pronchinske. Formed in 2008, the band has a sound similar to some of the classic alternative albums of the 90s, with a updated influence of today’s indie superstars. The end result are great albums like their most recent release, “Under Different Lights“. Led by the first single, “Curtain”, the album contains 14 well-crafted, harmonic tracks. The influence of modern bands like Jack’s Mannequin and Motion City Soundtrack can be heard, especially on piano-driven songs like “This is Tragedy”. The Siege Perilous also get to show off their wide range of abilities on this album, mixing pop-rock anthems with slower, more dramatic songs. Under Different Lights is the band’s second full length release, coupled with two EPs in between albums.
