Floppy Top is back with a new pop offering titled “Smoke and Wine,” and it’s the kind of track that sneaks up on you like a second glass at dinner — smooth, warm, and just a little dangerous.

Living somewhere between hazy bedroom-pop atmosphere and hook-forward songwriting, “Smoke and Wine” leans on lush production, understated grooves, and vocals that feel more like a late-night confession than a pop performance. It’s a mood piece, but not a lazy one — every layer earns its place, from the smoky low end to the airy top-line melodies that give the song its title-worthy shimmer.

What makes Floppy Top interesting isn’t just the polish, though there’s plenty of it. It’s the willingness to sit in the in-between: not quite indie-pop, not quite alt-R&B, not quite the radio-ready sheen you’d expect from the genre tag. Instead, “Smoke and Wine” carves out its own dimly-lit corner and invites you to stay a while. Consider it the audio equivalent of that one bar with the good lighting and the better playlist.

Stream “Smoke and Wine” below and tuck it into your late-night rotation.
