AUDIO: Choke Chain – “Decomposition”

Milwaukee’s resident purveyor of dark electro and industrial menace is back, and this time he’s bringing the rot. Choke Chain — the long-running solo project of Mark Trueman — has announced a new full-length, Decomposition, with vocals tracked at Subspace HQ right here in Milwaukee. If you’ve been waiting for something to soundtrack your slow descent into the void this summer, congratulations: your calendar just got a little darker.

For the uninitiated, Choke Chain has spent years carving out a corner of the underground where EBM, dark electro, and industrial collide. Past records like Mortality, Death Tactics, and Invoking Shadows built the blueprint — pounding rhythms, corroded synths, and vocals that sound like they’re being dragged through a chain-link fence. Decomposition looks to push that template even further into the catacombs, with a tracklist that reads like a coroner’s report: “Decomposition,” “Misunderstood,” “Morgue,” “Life Ends,” and “Imprisoned,” plus a handful of remixes for the dancefloor goblins.

Milwaukee has always had a soft spot for music that sounds like the factories it grew up around, and Decomposition feels like a natural extension of that legacy — cold, mechanical, and unmistakably human underneath all the static.
