AUDIO: Local Legends – “Now with more F-Bombs!”
Milwaukee’s own Local Legends are back, and as the title not-so-subtly suggests, they’ve cranked the profanity dial well past eleven on their latest release, “Now with more F-Bombs!” Consider it a public service announcement: if you came here looking for polite punk rock, you’ve taken a very wrong turn.
True to its name, the record is a rowdy, sweat-soaked celebration of everything Local Legends do best. Buzzsaw guitars, gang vocals, and that unmistakable mix of ska-tinged swagger and snotty punk attitude that has made the band a staple of Milwaukee’s basement shows, dive bars, and DIY venues. The songwriting leans into the band’s signature blend of barbed humor and barbed-wire hooks, with each track feeling like a pint glass raised (and possibly thrown) in the general direction of polite society.
What sets this release apart from the band’s earlier work is the confidence in the chaos. There’s a tightness to the playing that proves these aren’t just sloppy punks goofing off; they’re sharp musicians who happen to think your delicate sensibilities are hilarious. The choruses are built to be shouted back, the riffs are built to be remembered, and the F-bombs? Well, those are built to be plentiful.
In a city with no shortage of punk bands fighting for the back of the bar, Local Legends keep proving why their name is more than just a clever boast. “Now with more F-Bombs!” is loud, fast, funny, and exactly the kind of record Milwaukee’s punk scene needed this year.
