This past weekend saw the release of “The Target Demonstrations,” a sonic assault from Milwaukee punk band Target, and it’s a blistering release with lots of feedback and DIY ethos. The six-track project, recorded with a raw, unvarnished intensity, captures Target at their most urgent and uncompromising. With serrated guitar work and throat-shredding vocals, the band channels the frustration and energy of our current moment into something cathartic and essential. It’s a record that feels both timeless in its punk ethos and perfectly timed for Milwaukee’s resurgent underground scene, making the statement that Target are here, and they’re not playing around.
