Khal!l doubles back on an enigmatic, sleek sound with Please, Take Me With You, a 5-track EP that floats in between ethereal, cryptic R&B and synth-laced throwback goodness. A truly multidisciplinary vocalist and producer, Khal!l spans influences and instincts across the project’s 16 minute runtime – the meditative opening track “the clear mist” harkens back to the electro-acoustic stylings of Bon Iver, while the subtle electronic flourishes and gossamer-fine vocals of “watch me” and “please, take me with you” are more akin to the R&B psychedelia of Mk.gee’s most recent work. However, the standout track comes in the form of “what you are”, where bouncy synthlines cushion some luscious vocal harmonies for a supremely retro vignette. Despite its short runtime, Please, Take Me With You sees Khal!l take form for what will undoubtedly be a defining year for the artist. Listen below:
